Medway Union Workhouse (Help needed)

I am looking for information about Medway Union Workhouse, Chatham, England.

Elizabeth Ferry (ne Carnegie, born 12 Aug 1858 in Canada) was admitted into the workhouse on a number of occasions between 8 April 1921 and 11 Nov 1924.

I have found the location of the Workhouse, although it has long since been demolished, but would really like to know if there are any records available about the patients apart from the admission registers.

Elizabeth’s husband George Hall Ferry (my 1^st cousin 3x removed) died 19 June 1919, and Elizabeth is named on his probate which states his effects were £456 1s 4d.  If she was his full beneficiary, I am struggling to work out why she would end up in the workhouse.

George and Elizabeth married about July 1877 in Medway, but never had any children

There is a possibility that Elizabeth went back to Canada and later died there, but I need to confirm this.
