Marriage of William Ferry and Dorothy Mustard

William Ferry and Dorothy Mustard were married at Sunderland Register Office on 20 February 1886.

William was aged 21 and living at 2 Naylor Street, Sunderland, and working as a riveter (a person whose job it is to fasten things by means of rivets, or metal pins) in the shipyards. 

Dorothy was 18 years old, and living at 17 Anderson Street, Sunderland.  
The witness to the marriage were George and M Ferrey. (Possibly William’s siblings)

It wasn’t long after their marriage that their first child, William, was born.  Williams Mustard Ferry was born on 26 May 1886 at 15 Crescent Row, Sunderland.  William and Dorothy went on to have 9 more children, 7 boys and 2 girls.

In 1921, the family had moved to 7 Andrew Road, Penarth, Wales, but by 1935 they were back in Sunderland.

Dorothy died on 31 October 1935 at the Municipal Hospital, Sunderland and is buried in Bishopwearmouth Cemetery. 

William died on 18 February 1945 at 30 Dame Dorothy Street, and is also buried in Bishopwearmouth Cemetery.
